Well I didn’t think I was going to wake up Christmas morning with an influx of comments and subscriptions in my email and I knew immediately it must be because Margaret Anna Alice dropped her holiday post and our collab based on her prose Do You Remember?
It is unlikely that I have readers here that don’t also follow Margaret, but if that is the case, I urge you to take a gander at her other powerful posts and subscribe to her stack.
I want to piggy back with a quick note to express my own sentiments. The world has changed on a fundamental level over the last couple of years. Even around the holidays, there’s a lack of the usual cheer, a lack of the usual jolliness. I see folks going about their business as if by habit, but the aliveness has dulled, as if the invisible walls of isolation remained in tact. But all that exists is ebb and flow. Even this Christmas doesn’t seem mired in despair as last Christmas when we were looking at “a winter of death” and some of us were banned from polite society and shared culture, at least where I lived. This year, there’s a silent resolution and, dare I say, reflection.
To all my readers, the ones that have been here through my awkward growing stage and the newcomers, Merry Christmas! May the spirit of the season bring you joy, laughter, and inner peace. Thank you for lifting me up, for engaging in tough conversations and for being an important and unique piece of this puzzle we call life.
Merry Christmas!
Lovely and true! Wull, I DO remember and keep scratchin' my head as to the fact that SO many do not...those in lockstep with their new normal bull-de-ology that so dehumanizes us messy human beans. I'm a' jus' comin' up for air after 25 days with no email service and a big move and a jab-injured mama (and lots more--when it rains it pours jus' like that Morton's Salt gal) but as I start to read all the messages I missed, I was SO glad to see this one--and watch. Havin' our truth projected in under 5 joyful moments is what we are all 'bout. Well done agin'--and kudos to ya both!
Merry Christmas 😀
